NYC Field Trip

We're back from an NYC field trip - part business exploration, part art inspiration.

african mask, 19th century

The main purpose of the trip was to check out NY Now the big (oh my...is it big) wholesale trade show held twice a year at the Javits Center. I was able to attend as a potential future "non exhibiting manufacturer".

Secondarily but no less important was the time we spent at The Met, The Whitney and the Museum of Art and Design. For me going to art museums is one of the most renewing things to do - I leave, brain awash with ideas, visuals and wisdom but somehow also relaxed.

Thirdly, a goal of every city trip...to enjoy non-American food. (And given the current political situation, eating food skillfully prepared by immigrants to the US almost feels like taking a stand.) We had fantastic Korean, Greek and Cuban food and superb service. Surely NYC would grind to halt if it ever stops welcoming immigrants.

And the shops are open!

Both of my shops are now re-opened as I celebrate 50 trips around the sun! (Official celebration on Friday and including Thai food, so I am told ;-)

My web store holds newer work and my Etsy shop will be for older work, beads, samples and so on. If you make a purchase from both shops at the same time, I'll be happy to combine shipping.

This is the largest of the new work - a three strand statement necklace in Ocean blue. It stands out equally as well on black as it does on lighter colors.

Online shops re-open in just five days!

Its just five day until my shops re-open and I'm hot and heavy into the parts of this whole selling my work on-line thing that I am least thrilled about - photography and sundry, organizational computer stuff.

I'm taking a much needed day away from technology today to take a felting class - something I've wanted to do for quite some time. Who knows how that material may find its way into my work at some point. Someday. Maybe.

Either way, I think the exploration in another material and simply getting out of "these four walls" will be good for me.

Just a reminder, friends on my email list get all the info. on sales, special discounts just for them and first dibs on one-of-a-kind pieces. If you haven't already done so and are interested in signing up just click the black bar at the top of my website. I never, ever, ever share your information. Ever.

Reversible multi-strand necklace

Here's a look at my new reversible, multi-strand necklace. One side is blue and and the other white (or would you call it grey?) so you've got two color choices in one piece.

I'm not sure if you'd call it a statement necklace. That's all really a matter of perspective I suppose however...it is amazingly lightweight.

Noticed the clasp. (Yes, proud of that bit especially.) Its hand fabricated sterling silver and easy to use.

This design will be available starting January 24 when my shop re-opens. If you'd like you can sign up for my email list for details.

My jewelry on a model

I know that it helps to see jewelry on a model, most assuredly when purchasing jewelry online, but I've been a little sluggish with following through on that,  haven't I? And after my daughter got married and moved 20 mins. away even more so.

Problem solved. This is Phoebe and she was awesome in every way, patient through several hours of jewelry changes, outfit changes and "turn your head, turn your body, look up, look down" and so on.

My talented niece took the photos and I could just sit back and make decisions about what I did and did not like.

These are just a few of the new pieces that will be ready when my shop re-opens January 24. For more details you can sign up for my email list at genevievewilliamson.com

New organic shaped jewelry in the New Year!

Happy New Year to you!

Multi-strand Turquoise Necklace

If you aren't on my email list and didn't already know, my online shop re-open date is January 24. I'm looking forward to sharing my new work, and for those of you who've asked, I'll be stocking old favorites as well.

Although I'm still wrapping things up, deciding which pieces to include in my new collection and which ideas need to ruminate, there will be eight (give or take) necklaces using organic shapes, corresponding earrings and big, bangle bracelets.

If you'd like to be the first to know whenever I release new work, about sales, craft shows and gallery openings, be sure to sign up for my email list.
